John Gale, B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Eng., Ph.D., P.Eng., P.Geo.
Dr. Gale is the President, Principal in Charge, and a Senior Hydrogeologist and Geological Engineer with Fracflow. Dr. Gale is a registered Site Professional under the NL Department of Environment and Conservation, Pollution Prevention Division and is an Approved Designer for Residential Septic Systems with Service NL. In addition to directing the operations and management of the company, he provides technical review and oversight for Fracflow's professional staff. Dr. Gale has over 25 years of experience in the supervision and execution of small and large scale consulting and research projects. He has worked extensively in Canada, the United States, Europe, and South America and is well-known and respected worldwide in the research and industry communities. Dr. Gale specializes in the hydrogeology of fractured bedrock systems, contaminant hydrogeology, flow system analysis, rock mass characterization and rock mechanics. He has authored or co-authored over 200 scientific and engineering publications and has supervised the research projects of a number of masters and doctoral students.
G. Glenn Bursey, B.Sc., M.Sc., P.Geo., CESA
Mr. Bursey is a Principal, Vice President and Manager of Fracflow's branch office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and a Senior Hydrogeologist. He is a registered Professional Geoscientist, a Certified Environmental Site Assessor, and a Site Professional under the Nova Scotia Domestic Fuel Oil Spill Policy and under the NL Department of Environment and Conservation, Pollution Prevention Division. As an employee of Fracflow since 1990, he has provided both technical and project management support to contracts, dealing mainly with environmental engineering, environmental site assessment, hydrogeology, contaminant hydrogeology, and water supply problems. Mr. Bursey has developed specialized skills in the areas of soil, surface water, and groundwater geochemistry and stable isotope hydrology, as well as in the investigation and interpretation of water quality issues within the context of complex fractured-bedrock systems, particularly in mining environments. He has been involved in a wide variety of projects for clients in government and industry at locations throughout Atlantic Canada, the Northwest Territories, Bermuda, Brazil, and Sweden. These projects have ranged from small-scale projects to multi-year, multi-million dollar undertakings.
Eunjeong Seok, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.
Dr. Seok is a Principal, Hydrogeologist and Numerical Modeler with Fracflow. Since joining the company in 2000, she has been involved with a variety of projects involving Phased Environmental Site Assessments, water supply development and aquifer testing, marine geotechnical projects, and site remediation projects in Atlantic Canada, Bermuda and the Northwest Territories. She has developed specialized expertise in conducting 3D flow and transport numerical modeling for a range of groundwater supply and environmental problems in both porous media and fractured-rock masses.
In addition to the three Principals described above, the Fracflow professional team includes a geological engineer, an engineering geologist, a geoscientist, and a certified technologist. This team is supported by an experienced administrative assistant and several part-time technical staff. In addition, the Fracflow team is strengthened considerably by its associated consultants in the environmental, biological and geotechnical fields. These associated consultants have enabled Fracflow to undertake and deliver on projects that include (1) a two-year investigation of impacts of wind turbines on bird mortality in a coastal environment (see publication), (2) an assessment and analysis of slope stability issues that threatened a major highway, and (3) an extensive study of the impacts that the discharge of cooling water from a large thermal electrical power plant are having on the near-shore marine environment.
